My story

A radical shift.

I had a safe job: a leadership role at Tesla in Berlin. But I left. Before that I was in a successful band in Munich, but I knew I had to follow my dream and become an independent artist.

My signature sound

All played by hand.

I went right into building my solo debut album, and I knew I needed to make it all by hand. Decades of stage and band experience went into it. I'm a vintage music lover, so it's built on analog machines with real knobs, without compromises. I made it with everything I had, and I think you can hear that.

I wrote and produced the album on my own, and funded all of it myself: more than €30,000. Only real musicians and friends could help me take the songs to where I envisioned them: Simon Popp (Roosevelt) on drums and percussion. Heatherannie Newkirk on gospel-inspired backing vocals. Plus saxophone and a live string quartet, to give my arrangements their final, distinctive flavour.
